How does it work?

There are several scanners all monitoring or scanning different channels. The audio from each is fed into a computer running a program called ProScan. Each radio has its own copy of ProScan recording audio and embedding channel information into the files. Those files are saved into a directory that another program called Trunking Recorder is monitoring. Trunking Recorder takes the audio files and provides a webserver interface that can playback new audio as it is recorded. The interface allows the user to listen to whatever channels they want ignoring what they don’t want to hear.

The interface also allows the user to search for past recordings by channel or date.

Do I need special software?

No. The interface runs on most web browsers. You can tune in via your computer, tablet or phone.

I don’t want to hear ___________. What can I do?

No problem. You can choose a new Group list to listen to. Or you can select one or several Talkgroups (channels) that are available.
The default Group that loads when you open the Interface is called ScanDutchess. It has a selection of common Police, Fire & EMS channels that will keep you in the loop! You can change this to whatever you want or pick and choose your own Talkgroups (channels) to listen to.

What will I hear?

The nature of radio reception depends on many factors including antennas, atmospheric conditions, interference, etc. We strive for great audio quality however some channels can be received more poorly than others. This may result in static or unreadable audio.

The system only operates with uninterrupted power and internet connection. Loss of utilities will result in the system being unavailable.

Some of the channels have dedicated scanners so that all traffic will be received despite activity on other channels. Some of the channels are scanning and only one channel can be recorded at a time. The currently in use setup offers very good coverage and reception on the most important channels.
